Dental Bridges and What They Can Do for You!

The procedure for getting dental bridges falls into the category of cosmetic dentistry.

Dental bridges are meant to fill the gap left behind by missing teeth.  They are fabricated teeth which are fused between two porcelain crowns to fill in the area.

In areas of your mouth that are under less stress, such as your front teeth, a cantilever bridge may be used. Cantilever bridges are used when there are teeth on only one side of the open space. Bridges can reduce your risk of gum disease, help correct some bite issues and even improve your speech.

Bridges require a commitment to serious oral hygiene, but – unlike dentures – will last as many as ten years or more. They are natural in appearance and generally only require a few visits to my office for the procedure and maintenance.

Dental bridges are a common cosmetic dentistry procedure that are ideal for anyone who is missing teeth. Keep in mind, that if the space caused by a missing tooth is left unfilled, it may cause the surrounding teeth to drift out of position. It may also make your teeth and gums more prone to decay and disease.

If dental bridges are something you think will help your smile, give my office a call for an immediate consultation.
