When it comes to teeth whitening, people want a quick, inexpensive fix.
But do quick whitening fixes really work?
Yes and no.
First, let’s talk about teeth whitening toothpastes. They are mildly abrasive, making them pretty handy at removing surface stains. But, they’re not bleach. They will not turn your teeth white for a long period of time. These types of toothpastes contain polishing agents that will make your teeth cleaner, and may even give them a temporary sparkle. But keep in mind that by the end of the day that sparkle will fade.
At-home bleaching kits are another quick-fix teeth whitening option. They kits usually include whitening gel and trays or whitening strips. They are available over-the-counter and contain a peroxide gel bleaching agent. The bleaching solution, however, is substantially weaker than what I’d use during a professional bleaching treatment in our office. And, since the trays are not customized for your mouth and teeth, results tend to be inconsistent. The same can be said for those whitening strips. They’re not easy to put on!
Your best teeth whitening option is to have it done professionally. Using customized trays, professional whitening is by far the easiest, quickest, and most effective way to get your teeth whiter and brighter. And, professional whitening lasts months!
