Artificial Intelligence (AI) is everywhere today. It’s in space, inside the human body and now — it’ll soon be in our mouths. Introducing Ara. It’s the world’s first AI toothbrush that’s designed to help us brush our teeth better.
Interactive Toothbrush
No, Ara the AI toothbrush won’t replace going to the dentist twice a year, but it will keep track of your brushing habits. Its technology connects with a smartphone app to transmit all sorts of data, including when and how often you brush and whether your current regime is good enough to keep dental problems at bay.
Kolibree, the makers of Ara, say the AI toothbrush will not only teach you to brush better, but it will also emit sonic vibration that can remove plaque without excessive brushing (and possible gum recession).
A New Era in Oral Care?
So, how does it work? Here’s what Kolibree CEO Thomas Serval has to say:
“Patented deep learning algorithms are embedded directly inside the toothbrush on a low-power processor. Raw data from the sensors runs through the processor, enabling the system to learn your habits and refine accuracy the more it’s used. Ara is Kolibree’s newest innovation for personalized healthcare, with an eye on disease prevention and wellness.”
Pre-Orders Available
The Kolibree toothbrush has already been tested by 10,000 people over a three-year period. It will also be the subject of a large-scale clinical study in the United States and Europe.
Intuitive? Yes.
Cheap? No way.
Ara by Kolibree is currently available for pre-order at $79 through February 2017, after which it goes up to an “introductory price” of $129.
