Cosmetic Fillings in Pasadena

Fillings are a direct restoration using synthetic materials to fill cavities and restore teeth damaged by decay.

Natural-Looking Cosmetic Fillings

If you are an older adult you may recall that silver amalgam fillings were pretty popular several years ago. These types of fillings were known for their durability, but they weren’t the most discreet solution. Silver amalgam fillings stand out and can stain your teeth.

A cosmetic or tooth-colored filling is the new way to bring back the health of a decayed or damaged tooth. We offer cosmetic or tooth-colored restorations as aesthetic and biocompatible alternatives to silver amalgam. In fact, we no longer use silver or amalgam fillings. Cosmetic fillings are made of resin or porcelain that blends in seamlessly with your natural teeth. In fact, we can color-match the filling material so they look completely invisible.

Why Choose Cosmetic Fillings Over Amalgam?

Cosmetic or tooth-colored fillings have many advantages over traditional silver fillings.

Great aesthetics. Tooth-colored fillings are invisible, even if you look closely at the tooth. The resin or porcelain material mimics real enamel so well that it’s hard to tell that they’re artificial.

Metal-free. The fillings contain no metal that can cause discomfort when consuming hot or cold foods and drinks. Cosmetic fillings are recommended for patients with metal allergies.

Tooth protection. Unlike silver amalgam fillings, cosmetic fillings bond directly to the surface of the tooth to strengthen the structure. There’s no need to remove so much enamel or hollow out the tooth.

Durability and strength. Thanks to modern bonding techniques, cosmetic fillings can now last as long as silver amalgam fillings. Cosmetic fillings can be used to restore front teeth or teeth that receive the highest chewing forces

What to Expect

During your initial consultation, we will go over important information and answer any questions you may have. We will also go over your family history and goals in order to find the most effective form of cosmetic filling. In most cases, we will numb the area with anesthetic.

Following the anesthetic will be tooth decay removal, which allows us to remove damaged areas of the tooth structure. Filling placement follows the cleaning process, followed by shaping and polishing.

Cosmetic fillings is a non-complex, fast procedure, which makes it more cost effective. The procedure itself is short in duration with minimal discomfort.
